Walking, Biking, Riding News

Bicyclists-RESIZEThe month of May is passing quickly and a lot of folks have been participating in the Bike to Work Commute Challenge (way to go!). Lots of other great opportunities are coming up to keep the momentum going.

Have you heard about Seattle Neighborhood Greenways? It’s a growing volunteer coalition representing 19 neighborhoods (as of September 2012) working with the City to plan and advocate for safe and healthy streets connecting us to the places we use, whether we walk, drive, ride a bike, push a stroller, or move by wheelchair. Visit their site for more information about getting involved, and take a look at this short Seattle Channel video about neighborhood greenways.

In June the Department of Transportation is hosting a series of meetings throughout the City to get input from the community on the Bicycle Master Plan. There’s an online meeting scheduled too, in case you can’t make it in person.

If you bike, walk, ride transit or even skate to work, sign up for SDOT’s Walk Bike Ride Challenge starting on June 15 and running until September 9. You could win a great prize, including a new bike!
