Get ready, get set – free trees!

Boy with treeMark your calendars for Wednesday, July 31. The City’s annual Trees for Neighborhoods program kicks off with applications opening to request up to FOUR free trees for your yard. Not only do you get trees, but training, ongoing support and reminders on caring for your trees, and watering bags to help keep young trees happy and healthy. This program sells out every year and offers a great variety of trees, so make sure you get your application in early. If you are thinking about planting a street tree (in the right-of-way between sidewalk and street) or under power lines, be sure to review some information (PDF) ahead of time and pick an appropriate tree.

Tree pick-up and training workshops will be scheduled for October and November, the best time to plant trees in the Northwest. Already have some young trees at home? Make sure you’re watering them now, it’s been a dry summer!
