In April 2016, Mayor Murray released the Equity & Environment Agenda—a roadmap for advancing race and social justice in the environmental movement. The Agenda was developed in partnership with the multi-ethnic, multi-racial Community Partners Steering Committee (CPSC) and over 1000 Seattle residents participated in conversations and activities that contributed to the Agenda.
When the Agenda was released, Mayor Murray committed to the creation of an Environmental Justice Committee to ensure that those most-affected by environmental inequities have ownership in decision-making, environmental program/policy design and Agenda implementation. The Office of Sustainability & Environment is currently recruiting for individuals to serve on the City of Seattle Environmental Justice Committee.
Deadline for applications is December 19.
