City Council Unanimously Votes to Ban Plastic Carry Out Bags

The plastic bag ban will go into effect on July 1, 2012. The new ordinance still allows plastic bags for produce, bulk foods and meat. Low-income residents on food assistance would be exempt from the fee. Read the full City Council press release here.
