Fresh Bucks Waitlist Application Now Open!

The long-awaited Fresh Bucks Waitlist Application is now open! Seattle households can apply to join the waitlist for Fresh Bucks benefits, which will be offered as spots are available. The application will remain open for the foreseeable future.

Fresh Bucks provides $40 per month to extend family grocery budgets while supporting local farmers and businesses. The waitlist application is available in 12 languages on SeattleFreshBucks.org/apply

“We’re so excited to launch the first Fresh Bucks waitlist application after hearing directly from residents and neighborhood organizations,” said Michelle Caulfield, interim director of City of Seattle’s Office of Sustainability and Environment (OSE). “The Fresh Bucks Waitlist Application is available on the City’s affordability portal and will remain open, making it easy for eligible households to join the waitlist and access other City resources.”

Funded by Seattle’s Sweetened Beverage Tax, Fresh Bucks currently helps more than 12,000 households afford the fruits and vegetables. Benefits can be used at more than 40 locations in Seattle, including farmers’ markets, independently owned grocers with culturally relevant produce options, and Safeway.

Who Can Apply?

Seattle residents who meet income eligibility requirements and live within City limits qualify. View eligibility requirements at SeattleFreshBucks.org/apply. You can check if you live in City limits on the City Council’s website. Currently enrolled Fresh Bucks customers do not need to submit a waitlist application.

Information required in the application:

  • How many people are in your household
  • Your household income
  • Your home address
  • Your date of birth

How Waitlist Enrollment Works

Fresh Bucks uses a random selection process to enroll eligible applicants off the waitlist. If you’re not selected right away, your application will stay on the waitlist for future openings. If your application is selected, you will be notified directly through the mail and email with the exact timeline for when you will receive your benefits.

Applicants that meet one or more of the following priority criteria will receive additional entries in the selection process:

  • Households with the lowest income
  • Households where a language other than English is primarily spoken
  • Households that remain on the waitlist after the first enrollment period

Apply Anytime

The Fresh Bucks Waitlist Application will remain open and the program will enroll as many households as budget allows.

OSE is thrilled to be expanding access to Fresh Bucks in our commitment to providing a community-centered food assistance program that supports local, sustainable, and equitable food access. Thank you to the many small business and community partners in the Fresh Bucks network in every corner of our city.
